South Asian HER: Bridging Science, Tradition, and Community to Reimagine Wellbeing

South Asian HER bridges the gap between evidence-based medicine and the lived realities of South Asian women. From navigating PCOS and anxiety to managing diabetes, heart disease and obesity, we offer culturally aware guidance that finally reflects your health journey. Our platform brings together resources, stories, and support to make every conversation about chronic illness accessible, affirming, and actionable.

Celebrating South Asian Roots
as a Path to Well-Being

South Asian traditions already carry the blueprint for vibrant health, woven into food, movement, and community. From home-cooked meals and joyful dance and music, to meditation, prayer, and time with family, these everyday practices nourish both body and mind. This space celebrates those roots, helping women reclaim cultural wisdom as powerful tools for modern well-being.

Our Mission

South Asian HER exists to advance whole-person health for South Asian women by increasing awareness, education, and prevention of physical and mental health conditions across the lifespan grounded in evidence-based science and the pillars of lifestyle medicine.

Our mission is to make care and information accessible, culturally relevant, and rooted in the understanding that South Asian women carry unique biological risks, social stressors, and strengths. We strive to create a community where South Asian women feel seen, heard, and validated empowered to manage chronic disease and emotional wellbeing, and supported in improving quality of life through science-informed, culturally honoring care.

Core definition

South Asians are people whose cultural or ancestral roots trace back to the South Asian subcontinent, typically including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives, with Afghanistan often included as well.

This is both a geographic and ethno-cultural term, and many South Asians live in large diasporas around the world (for example, in North America, the UK, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean) while still identifying as South Asian.

Diversity within South Asians

South Asians represent hundreds of ethnic groups, languages, and religions, including (but not limited to) Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Gujarati, and others, and religions such as Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism, Christianity, Jainism, and more.
